I don't have an answer to your question..but I'm just wondering when you're going in October. My bf and I are going to Rome for our first trip in October as well. We've found some great deals through our travel agent.

I got a little apartment for 650 Euros/week to cut down on dining costs some. There are good apartments on Homeliday.com.

You are using the terms "Rome " and "reasonably priced" in the same sentence. This is referred to as an "oxymoron" - the two concepts are mutually exclusive.

I have booked this hotel for this may ...£ 74.57 per night.

Or else try this

Get a look at nycerome.com, they have a special section about "cheap hotels" and "budget hotels" which may be interesting for you. Take a look on the apartments also, it's a very convenient alternative. Another advantage of this website is that your credit card won't be charged at the booking (though you get a booking confirmation) : if you find a cheaper or better option you can cancel without problems....
