Hi I'm italian and I visited Rome so many times and every day I visit it I always find something new to see. One day is not enough to visit Rome, with one day you can see only the most important monuments of the city center.

You could see all the sites that you mentioned except the vatican ...The lines to get into the church and the sistine chapel are way too long in the summer. However, you could go to St. Peter's Square and see the church from the outside.

Since you have only 1 day, I would advise you to take the Bus 110- a sightseeing bus to see all the places you would like to see. It is a hop on-hop off bus. I would highly recommend it .

You can purchase the tickets at the Bus 110 ticket booth near Termini station located between the city buses in the booth there or aboard the bus.

110 Bus is an open sightseeing bus which makes stops to the main attractions in Rome... It is a hop on/hop/off bus...
Good idea if you have children or adult who cannot walk a lot.
A bus ticket cost 16 euros. and children under 6 do not pay.(children 6-12 years Euro 7,00)
From Termini Station, departing every day, every 15 minutes. You can also hop on one of the buses at one of their stops and buy a ticket.

Here is a link to all the stops the Bus 110 makes along its route. The stops are the nearest to each attraction

To fully enjoy Rome, you must plan ahead and stay for at least 3 days.

You can take the train to Rome. It will take you 1 1/2 hours from Florence (on the Eurostar-- reservations are required for this train. ) I would advise you to leave for Rome early if you want to get a full days worth of sightseeing since you have only 1 day.

Gelateria Della Palma - Near the Trevi Fountain
Via della Maddelena
(If you are facing the Trevi Fountain, Della Palma is about two doors down Via della Maddelena which goes off to the right.) - Great ice cream shop --highly recommended

Gelateria di San Crispino--Near Trevi Fountain
City Centre -Fountain of Trevi
Via della Panetteria,42
Great ice cream shop -highly recommended

Campo dei Fiori Market
Campo dei Fiori
Just north of the Jewish ghetto along the east bank of the Tiber River
(For a cheap lunch just come by early, buy some tomatoes, vegetables, cheese, meats, and some bread and stuff them in your bag. Then go sit by the river, the Bernini fountain, The Fiountain of Trevi, or wherever your heart desires and enough your lunch. Don't forget to buy a drink , or a bottle of wine.)

If you are looking for inexpensive restaurants, look for the term osteria, tavola calda, rosticceria, trattoria, pizzeria, or "self-service

Noooo please!!
You have to stay at least 1 week... there are many things to see, for example:
- Vaticano/Colosseo/Piazza di Spagna/Fontana di Trevi
- Piazza Navona , Pantheon
- Bocca della Verità
- Fori imperiali, Castel Sant'angelo, Campidoglio, Altare della Patria
- Porta Portese
- Trastevere
- Villa Borghese (with Bioparco) and near Villa Borghese there's a fantastic Modern Art Museum
- Villa Ada
And these is only a little part of this fantastic city...maybe the most beautiful in the world. Yesssssss!!

Aw- C'm-On!!! If Rome wasn't BUILT in a Day, what makes you think anyone can SEE it- in a Day ??! You could spend a WEEK in Rome- running around like an Idiot trying to see as MUCH as possible- and STILL see only a Half of the City! Pick one or two Sights that You REALLY want to check out, & then save the Rest for another 15 or 20 "day trips..." BELIEVE me, you'll be GLAD You did!!! :)

xy
you definitely can't see ALL of Rome in 1 day. For me, the Vatican in itself took half a day. Maybe if you rush, because you don't really need to be at the Colliseum or Fontana di Trevi for too long. I hope you have a wonderful time! Make sure you plan your time exactly and know exactly what route you want to take so you don't waste time.

Things like the coliseum, the piazza, and the Trevi Fountain, you can see all of it in one day. The Vatican may have to be a different trip, however!

It's very difficult, I tried to see it in one day and I failed, I didn't have enough time to visit the vatican, and I was like running all the time, but you won't regret it, even if you didn't see every thing it's really worth the visit.

If you can plan another long visit then better wait but if you are not sure that you can come again then don't waste the chance.

Rome wasn't built in a day but maybe you can see what you want? Look it up online. I've never been there.

tee2
Yeah you could probably see the majority of things but you will be awfully tired. 2 days would better, more relaxing. I was there for a day and I didn't want to rush, so the only major attraction I missed was the coliseum. I went to the Vatican City, Catacombs, Sistine Chapel, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon.

letizia
rome is a big, marvelous city, you can just have a look to it, but one day is not enough. if you only have one day, meybe you can visit pisa, lucca ,siena, viareggio which are not far from florence and one day is enough for more then one of them.

HAHAAHAHHAHAH u must me shitting me!! ONE DAY!! ahaaahaahha u can see one building in one day thats all
