Check out the coast between Rome and Naples. Towns like Terricina, Sperlonga, Gaeta, and Formia are amazing and easy to get to from Rome or Naples. The people are great. The food is great. I lived in Gaeta for 2.5 years and wish I had the means to move back. Good luck with your trip.

Venice

Venice wins no question. I have been there 2 times and it it like stepping into a movie set. No cars, just waterways. Hidden streets leading to fantastic architecture. Fun people. Water taxis. Out lying islands reachable by ferries. Wonderful food. Fantastic art museums. Dripping with history.

Can you tell I'll go back many times. Don't miss this city of charm.

i think that depends what you like, what you looking for and what you expect from this country.
most of all i could suggest you to visit an art city as florence, or venice or rome, or to chose one and the area around.
apart venice that i don't know so much what could offering the night, florence and rome offer any sort of things. any corner could give you a surprise.

ciao

We were in Florence back in June 2006. If you like art it is fabulous. Rome is also a must if you are into art and history. We saw the Collesium, the Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain and St. Peter's Bascillica. Pompeii is also an awesome place to visit. It is near Naples.
