I will be going from Rome to Venice by train.....?
this will be during carnivale time in Venice, do you think I should buy train tickets well in advance? I will be going on a Tuesday or Wednesday, first train in the morning and want to leave around midnight back to Rome on an overnight train, in a sleeping compartment. Do you think I should buy tickets now? I am afraid there will be no seats left..
I've gone to Venice both weekends for the past nine years and have always been able to get tickets a week in advance on the early Eurostar on the Milan to Venice line. Going on a Tuesday or Wednesday shouldn't be a big problem unless you pick the last Tuesday when Carnevale ends. It certainly can't hurt to get your tickets now to be sure though.

I would get them now that way you wont have to worry about it. Better to not stress during a vacation. Its a very popular attraction.

You may be able to get tickets without pre-booking but if you know what times you want to travel then it's better safe than sorry. You sometimes get discounts for buying in advance as well so it will put your mind at rest to pre-book and may also save you a bit of money.
