if you want central I would look at the Spanish Steps, Campo dei Fiori or Piazza navona. Have a look at Trastevere, it's thankfully an over looked area. I've used these guys before and was very impressed with their apartments and service. http://www.holiday-velvet.com/rome

I have a site on Italian rentals but don't focus on Rome so unfortunately I can't help you. Perhaps the best guys are Intehome for Rome. http://www.interhome.co.uk/buchung/main.asp?so=35&userlang=03&countrycode=I&xregioncode=35&partnerid=350699

They normally have a big selection in Rome and are very reliable. Choose Lazio from the drop down menu
