My husband is from Siclia and we live in America. I love my husband, but not all his Italian friends.

I think italy is beautiful, but I think the people can be very cruel (especially to the immigrants) and egocentric. Most Italians believe their country is the greatest, but so do Americans and every other nation for that matter. Only difference is, as of right now Italian people are getting to be known for their hatred and cruelty to the gypsies and other immigrants. It is very very inhumane.

Mi piace italia! (Ho imparato un po' d' italiano al mio liceo). I went with my Italian class in 2006 and I loved it!!! I am a pharmacy student in the U.S. but I am Italian as well - my family is from a small town called Borgo Partenope near Cosenza in Calabria. I was able to visit the town and I never felt so at home in my life! Italy is amazing and I can not wait to go back. America is just full of ugly concrete buildings, minimal history and the only good food is from other cultures - like Italy. I am actually thinking about moving to Calabria when I retire.

Ciao, Bella!
I've been to Rome last year, and I just felt in love with the city, is just gorgeous, more than my words can explain, the food, the ragazzi, the weather, the streets, and the most Beautiful flattering comment I ever received, all that make me miss Rome each time I think about it.

It was beautiful and the people are nice. Its great that Italians are trying to speak english.

I am American (I live in California) and will be traveling to Italy in April. I will visit Venice and Rome. I don't know what to think yet, but I have a good feeling about Italian people and I can't wait to see your country!

Italy is a beautiful country and all Italians should be proud of their country and what it has to offer. Sadly, when I was there, my husband was pickpocketed three times....once, they got the money and cards, the other two times, there was nothing to get so they were upset with US! Reporting to the police did nothing but we had to fill out forms to get our insurance to take care of the problem. We were also ripped off in the hotel of our airline ticket and parking ticket from the airline parking lot. We also were overcharged 4 times at 4 different Italian restaurants. When we complained, they yelled at US so much we just left. They even charged us for BREAD, insisting it was free, but it was then put on the bill. They totally took advantage of us,

But, again, the country was beautiful. I only wish the Pope would stop telling the world what to do and concentrate on the Italian people who take advantage of tourists.

Does this mean ALL Italians are bad? Of course not. There are these types of people everywhere. It just hurts more when you are on vacation and wanting to have a great time, and have money, tickets and everything stolen. And then have the food experience, which can be so delightful, ruined by the owners of the restuarant.

Would I go back again? Not to Rome, nor to Florence. Possibly Tuscan. I'm always willing to give people another chance.
