Rome
Venice
Florence
Travel by train, Buy the kilometrico tickets at the train station. you buy them by km, They are very cheap. Go to Visitor offices and ask for Studen't Lodges (some of them are just churches). they are the most unexpensive ever, and you get to know great people. Or go to half star hotels. They are clean and safe, and that is all you want. |

Doing Rome in three days in totally doable. You want to hit the major sites, so try a do-it-yourself walking tour. Get a great guidebook (I recommend Let's Go! Italy on a Budget http://letsgo.com/travel/destinations/italy) that has good maps and plan your way through the city. You want to see the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the fashion district, the ancient city, the coliseum, all the big stuff. Just a note, most places in Italy you can just walk up to, but the coliseum you have to pay to get in. Read your guidebook carefully, it will tell you where you have to pay, how much, etc. Devote a whole day to the Vatican. The museum is expensive, but worth it if you like history or art. Be prepared to spend all day; it took me five hours to go through the museum and I missed a huge chunk. If you don't want to see the whole museum, but do want to see the Sistine chapel, tickets can be purchased separately. Going to the museum and going to St. Peter's is different, so don't get confused. Again, use your guidebook to help you out here.
Rome is big and exciting, but if you want a more authentic taste of Italy, try some of the smaller towns around Rome such as Ostia, which is the port city of Rome. There are a lot of ruins to look at and I really enjoyed it. You can easily get to Ostia by the metro. Check out http://www.ostia-antica.org/ for more information.
I hope you enjoy your trip! |

There is so much to see in rome that doesnt cost a thing!! You have to pey to go into the Colloseum and teh Forum now, but both can be enjoyed from outside as well check out the Colloseum aty night when it is all lit up. There are plenty of view spots overlooking the parts of the Forum, Ive been inside and I enjoy the views from outside equally. St Peter's Basilica is free but the wait is very long. Walking the piazzas and fountains of Rome is free and you can see some amazing art in the churches. Bernini's Ecstacy of Theresa is in the Santa Maria della Vitoria Church near Piazza del Popolo. St Peter's in chains has Moses by Michaelangelo. One of the greatest momuments in Rome is always free The Pantheon, yo can enter as much as you like day or night. The bridge of Angels has sculptures by Bernini, and you can walk acorss that bridge anytime. I read this article about unusual sights http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1372380/off_the_beaten_path_in_rome.html?cat=16 How about visiting a church that has stairs down underground to an older church, and then more stairs from the older church into a Roman Temple. Have a great trip and save your money for food. |

You can visit Pisa and Florence within the same day. You catch early morning train. First go to Florence, enjoy there for three or four hours and take a train to Pisa. From Florence to Pisa, it is approx. 1 hr distance. Enjoy Pisa for one and a half hour or so, then take a train back from Pisa to Rome. If you do want to go to Pisa and Florence, you can visit Tivoli also but I would recommend Pisa and Florence.
For two days you can enjoy in Rome. In Rome you can Visit Trevi Fountain, Collosseum, Vatican Church, Pantheon, Spanish Steps etc. |
