I studied in Venice for a month then traveled around Italy for a bit. There is a ton to see and do and it was worth every penny I spent for air, hotels, etc. However, I will say that I didn''t really like Paris and there is much more to see in Rome, Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, then there is in Verona. Verona is cool if you want to go see an Opera and you can see Pisa as a passing stop to Florence. I don't know how old you are or if you already paid but while school trips are great because they are easy and organized if you are close to college age you should get a couple friends and go out to Europe and plan your own trip traveling by train (very easy) and staying in cheaper hotels and hostels (hostels are not at all like the movie!)

How long will you be gone? I was able to spend a whole month in Italy for about $5,000 a few years ago. I went by myself and got to do what I wanted to do when I wanted to do it. No chaperones, no timetables, just me and whoever I picked up along the way. For me, that was half the fun!

Ultimately, you will need to decide for yourself if it's worth the money or not, but it sounds like you already have doubts.

Incidentally, any trip to Italy that does not include Florence or Rome is NO TRIP TO ITALY AT ALL!

Are you or your parents paying? If you pay it will give you a great sense of the world and your own sacrifice to learn If your parents are paying they may just want you out of their hair for a while. Seems win, win, to me.

It's only worth it if you can learn how to spell it... That is one of the worst postings I have read this week... can you at least use "check spelling"?
