Also, if you get to Rome, go to a restaurant called il Convivio. It's the most amazing place I've ever been to - and that's saying something. Definitely one of the top places to eat in the world in my book. The layout of the restaurant is a bit strange and kinda like being in someones house, but the food is absolutely magnificent.

Enjoy!

here in the south of italy it can still be a bit nippy in March... so no swimming in the sea

keysersoze
Well to be honest the weather is quite unpredictable nowadays but if u go at the end of March it should be warm and sunny
If you are English i'd say is gonna be HOT and sunny.
Have a nice tour!

March is one of those months where if you don't like the weather , hang around for an hour and it'll change.

During March in Italy the weather is very changeable. Sunny, then rainy, then again sunny. But climate is pretty warm (it depends also on where you go, if Alps or Naples).
Good travel!

Andrea
In march weather is good, not too cold and not too hot.
However can be some storm in march, here we say that "Marzo è un mese pazzerelo" (March is a crazy month)

Pascha
It is still winter in March, so it will likely be cool. Make sure you have enough warm clothes with you.

Italy is at its best in spring (April-May) and autumn (October-November). During these seasons, the scenery is beautiful, the temperatures are pleasant and there are relatively few crowds. Try to avoid August, as this is the time that most Italians take their vacations, and many shops and businesses are closed as a result.

Go to www.weather.com which is the site for the Weather Channel and then type in the different cities you will be in. This is what I did when i went and it was pretty accurate. I went in March too and the weather was pretty cold in places like Milan and Torino, but it was hot in places like Pompeii. But it did start snowing in Rome!!! That was pretty fun!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm from italy...
I can tell you that here in march may change day to day...
One day may rain, one day may not...
However, temperatures start to increase from February, you won't have problems...

imagirl
Google 'average March weather Italy' for a start. But be region specific (e.g. Rome) as it varies. Lucky you - enjoy!

eidunotno
be prepared for anything. It will mostly cool and can get wet.
But there are also areas where you will be able to wear tshirts.
The weather has been a little crazy in the last years, so anything can happy. If you are in the mountains (dolomite's alps) you will need something warm for the nights. You can even get snow up there.

Maddie.
im going to italy at that time aswell!

i looked it up before, and they say about 15C (59F) for march, and about a weeks worth of rain throughout the month. a bit chilllly! but will still be beautiful! :)

That depends in which part you'll go. To the north, centre, south, islands? We call March 'the fool month', 'cause the weather is very crazy. The winter leaves us with some fresh blows. In the north, on the mountains, it there could be snow again, on the planes some sun or rain and some near fresh days. In the centre the weather become better, no snow (generally) but sun or rain and some wind. In the south or islands, the days are nice and calm (even generally) and we can have some rain, much sun and over 20° (Celsius naturally).

like on the internet.

in Rome it usually starts heating up after the first week of March.

bring clothes that are easy to carry if you leave early in the morning, because in March it's very cold early in the morning and really warm in the early afternoon !

so like a light jacket and a scurf that you can put away in the bag.
