I don't know if our tastes in restaurants match up. Centrale station is to the North of the City but the Metro will take you to the heart of it. From Centrale you can get trains to Como or to Stresa on Lake Maggiore. I'd suggest Maggiore this time of year, Como's getting a bit chilly. Train fares in Italy are CHEAP. Hint - get your ticket from a machine or you'll spend all of your holiday queueing for the ticket booth (the machines speak better English than the booking clerks) |

i went to milan a few years back, lake como was really nice and would definately recommend going. not sure how much it cost but we took the train. have fun |

Go to the Galleria Vittorio Emannuale II - it is a very stylish arcade with lots of restaurants where you can sit and watch people going by. I would also go to the Cathedral - you can go right up to the top and walk on the roof which is quite amazing. |
