Im in Florence, Italy and had to get stitches, will I have to pay? |
I'm on vacation in Florence for Spring Break and fell outside on the sidewalk yesterday cutting my chin wide open. Had my cousin drive me to the Hospital, and they fixed me right up, all i did was tell them my name country and date of birth and they let me go. Upon showing my health insurance card they looked at me like i had 3 heads so my question is what now as far as money is involved? |

If they don't have your address how can they bill you? Here's a secret about social healthcare - the doctors don't care about the money; they get paid whether they work or not. In England after the dentists make their quota (about September) they go on vacation for the rest of the year.
A little peroxide and a suture kit isn't worth the effort to bill you. Be surprised if you actually get a bill and forward it to your insurance. |

Clo is back from Florida !

No, you don't have to pay. Doctors get paid by the government and it was an emergency visit. That's one of those things of Europe, that simply works better than in the USA. |

If they send you a bill, which they most likely will, send it to your insurance company with a letter of explanation. They will most likely reimburse you. |
