Try the Hotel Galleria - it's got a great location on the Grand Canal next to the Accademia Bridge and several of their rooms open onto the Grand Canal. Their website is http://www.hotelgalleria.it/presentazioneENG.html. This place is recommended by many tourbooks - I stayed there a few years ago & it was wonderful! If they're full, then try the Casa Rezzonico at http://www.casarezzonico.it/ - also afforadable and nice with views on to a smaller canal. Enjoy!

Venice is expensive... but has a lot of canals, not only the Grand Canal! March is not a high season month (always avoid Carnival if you want something affordable...) so you can find some good offer. i use to suggest this link:

where you can find good prices. try Hotel al sole or Casa rezzonico if you are on a budget, or Hotel Principe if you can afford more. anyway the view is not so important, the main thing is.. to be there!

don'tgo to venice. in any other country a flooded city that smells of poo would not be classed as romantic.

Bella
You may have trouble finding something affordable,As when i went to Venice i found it to be very expensive in every way.

Mark
On the Canal is very expensive!
