Villa Carlotta has a botanical garden with plants from all over the world: http://www.villacarlotta.it/sito/index2.php
Villa Serbelloni and of Villa Melzi in Bellagio both have good gardens and are known for tropical plants. There are several other gardens around Lago Como and the other Italian lakes. Villa Taranto on Lago Maggiore is particularly good: http://www.villataranto.it/home_eng.htm
