In italy...?

this is a two part question... 1) haha i feel stupid asking this but my friend is moving to florence, italy and she's peruvian, very dark hair, dark skin, dark eyes. how do italian men like their women? are they like americans who find the stick thin straight hair blondes pretty or do they go for a different type?
2) whenever i go to spain i'm always suprised by how many people speak english, is it the same in florence?
Additional Details
pretty much.. if your an italian guy.. physically what kind of girl are you attracted to.

ok, ill tell you the story, im equadorean/american (neigbor to your friend), also have dark hair, dark eyes, normal tone skin, not dark not light and i currently live here in florence for the last 4 years.

when i left the states i thought it was going to be the same, i thought it was going to be easy for me to find guys who find me attractive. im naturally thin, have a normal south american face and in the states i recall, its wasnt hard to find a cute guy to date. so i thought it woudl be the same...but it wasnt!! surprise surprise!!...and i began to realize why...
here in italy, florence, rome, milan, ecc....almost ALL of the women are beautiful, and about 85% of them have a real good figure, even taller than me (im 5'5''), all slim, all dark hair, ligh eyes, tan skin, and many many of them have the blue eyes and black hair...so! my thought-to-be good looks was 'blended' in...and from my experience going to college here meeting new people, ive seen girls at college, who are like, wow! really really pretty and what do the italian guys do??? nothing. they just talk, walk away, no flirting, nothing, and i thought, why is that??? when i was in college back in the states, if there was a pretty girll all the guys would jump all over her. so my theory got to be, that here in italy, having SOO many beautiful woman around, the italians are use to it and cant notice how LUCKY they are to have pretty woman around, being their own sisters, brothers, gays, whatever, they all come attractive (and yes gay guys are cute too!! you have to visit a gym!!).

SO...the idea of being pretty, being thin, being tanned, dark hair, dark eyes, its no big deal for the italians, yeah ofcourse there are some that would recognize a south american and her beautiful values, but...lets just put it this way....they are more recoginzed in the states than in italy.

:) thats my theory!

oh and about you going to spain, yeah i know people there speak more english, but here in italy, only very very few people speak english..sadly :( but its true.

If your friend is good looking, italian men will like her -- she doesn't even have to be that great looking Italian men love women all shapes sizes etc. . A lot of american men don't like blonde sticks. Men mostly like women and they aren't as particular as you women have been lead to believe. And yes a lot people in Florence speak english because it is full of tourists and its good for business.

I think they like the Mediterranean look...which is what your friend looks like. And yes, in the bigger cities like Florence and Rome many people do speak English because it has so many tourists.

i studied abroad in italy with a bunch of americans...typical blondes....im argentinian with dark hair but light skin...basically, i think people thought i was italian cause they left me alone...also, cause i didnt dress as "slutty" as the other girls in my group. they got alot of attention and had guys hounding them all nite at clubs...but i guess thats what you get when your sole purpose of going to italy is to get drunk at italian clubs.

i had a great time there and thought the people were wonderful and really helpful.
