Well...Sicily in summer is amazing! Sun, sea...fantastic :)
After that...you could visit cities like Palermo, Catania, Siracusa, Ragusa and Agrigento: a lot of historical monuments.
Taormina is one of the sicilian cities I prefear...It's a quite small city, but it's always sunny and there are a lot of cool shops...the best place where relaxing...
Uhm another city very nice is Erice...a medieval city in a hill but from there you can see the sea...It's really magic specially in sunny days...
For any questions ask me, I'll be happy to answer to you :)
Sorry for my english mistakes
Bye

Taormina is a must for shopping. lots of wonderful shops. Stop in one of the bakeries and have a canoli, the best you will ever have! Mt. Etna is phenominal a must see.

Highlights are Palermo, Catania and the Etna volcano. Quite a few of people stay at the camping sites near Cefalu or Taormina. Sicily is a great starting place to explore the Eolian islands, another highlight.

I also heard very good things about this hostel/camping site:

Depends on how many days you will spend there...There are plenty of things worth a visit. You could choose, for instance, to stay in Catania or surroundings (there are lovely small towns on the coast near it, like Aci Castello) and move from there for daily excursions. Catania is situated in the middle of the eastern coast, so you can easily reach: volcan Etna (30 minutes), beautiful Taormina (30 minutes), romantic Syracuse (1 hour). If you like sport and adventure I recommend also the Alcantara Gorges, near Taormina. And Catania is nice too and very lively, especially in the night.
After some days exploring this area, you might go to the Eolian Islands to relax: Lipari, Panarea, Stromboli are really beautiful. The ferry to these islands leaves from Milazzo, 1 hour and half from Catania by motorway.
