Is $400 euros enough money when travelling to italy and paris for a total of 11 days? |
This is a school trip so $3000 has already been paid for hotel, touring, dinner and breakfast. So the 400 euros would be used for lunch&snacks and also for souvenirs. Also how much should i keep with me each day? |

Pasta + salad + beverage + water + cover charge at a restaurant will be between EUR 10 and 15. Add a couple extra euros if you would rather eat meat than a salad. For snacks, count on EUR 1.50 for a slice of pizza, ice cream cone OR bottle of soda (increase prices to EUR 2 per item in areas full of tourists). As for souvenirs, it depends on what type of thing you want to bring back. "I LOVE ITALIA" t-shirts run about twenty euros at a tourist shop and you can get an above-average bottle of wine for the same price. Count on one euro per postcard including postage. If you go to the Gucci or Armani store, your EUR 400 will be gone before you have time to say "carta di credita". Your four hundred euros will definitely cover lunches and food for eleven days, but you could need more depending on what kind of stuff you want to buy. I suggest bringing half the money in cash at the start of your trip, carrying it with you until you run low, and then using an ATM (called a "bancomat" in Italy) to withdraw the rest mid-way through your trip. Make sure your debit card has a four-digit PIN code. |

you're cutting it really close, about E100/day would be more comfortable |

if you really budget yourself, probably. i would set an amount that you do not want to go over each day. and if you have some extra at the end of the day, then it can roll over. otherwise, set aside an amount for a really nice souvenir so you know you will have plenty. and find ways to save money on snacks and stuff, it adds up quicker than you think. |

Wow, be careful... I managed to spend only $500 euros in 3 weeks, but i know some people who spent over $2000 in 3 weeks as well... $400 should be good, just manage it over the whole 2 weeks. |

for lunch you spend circa 10/15 euro, so 11*15 = 165euro
some ice, snack, ecc 5 euro pro day = 55 euro
10 souvenir * 15 euro = 150 euro
400 euro I think is very enough |

It would be risky. A week might be ok. |

NO. Italy (and Europe in general) is very expensive. I would take at least 200 more. Have a great time though. |

I own a B&B here in Rome and I really feel that if you know where to go you can manage! Go to supermarket shop and pack your lunches and I really feel you will be fine! I advise all my guests to do that if there are on a tight budget and they thank me when they are ready to check out of my B&B. www.romanitalian.com |

I guess it all depends how much you want to spend on lunches, snacks, souvinirs and if you have to pay your own entry into things or is this paid by the school?
Prices in Italy are comparable to those in the US so work out how much you'd need in the US and you'll be in the right sort of area.
As for what to keep with you - again it depends but don't carry around too much and spread it around in different pockets so you're less likely to lose all the money on you. |

Paris very exspensive but 400 will be enough just manage it good and you will be alright about 40 euros per day will be great spending money. |

Possible, not easy. In many places you can eat in a park on a bench an buy food in a (super)market. Buy some bread, some fruit and cheese. Carry a very small foldable pocket knife and keep it in your check-in luggage when flying. Save some extra for an emergency.
Read a lot about the late history of europe. Do not think that the US is the center of the world. Do not be arrogant and people will love to help you out. I live in a turistic area and I alway stop to help people who are trying to find their way. Most of them are very nice. When theu are not, I point them to the psychiatric ward.
Enjoy your trip. 11 days is crazy really. |

I was in Europe for a month in January 2005 and I spent soooo much money. It really depends on what kind of souveirs you want. For instance, in Florence, leather is their specialty. In Paris, perfume is great (go to the Champs Elysses and tell people when you get back that you bought it there. So posh.). Venice is known for lace and glass which can be expensive. Rome is so full of souvenirs you won't know what to do. Also, film and batteries for digital cameras can be expensive. I would make sure those are in travelers' checks as you can have those replaces if you lose them or have them stolen. Make sure you have a backup plan if you run out of money. When in Europe, don't skimp on things. It's a time to enjoy and think about later. I'm still paying off the credit cards I maxed out, but, man, it was WORTH IT. Italy will blow you away in April, especially Tuscany. It's gorgeous. Make sure to immerse yourself in the culture and keep an open mind and be adventurous! My favorite moments in Europe were the unplanned ones. :) Wish I could come! |

Probably not, but it depends on your idea of a lot of money and what you think you'll buy. A Euro is worth slightly more than a dollar. |
