Florence (in the Toscana region) is considered central Italy. Northern Italy starts from the region of Emilia-Romagna.

Florence, the main town of Tuscany, is just at the center of Italy: 300 km south from Milan and 280 north from Rome.

smizziana
Florence is in Tuscany (Toscana); it is in central Italy

I'm living very close to Florence and I can assure you that we are just in the Centre of Italy. The North starts just above my region (Tuscany).

Florence is in the Tuscany region. It is in central Italy. Perhaps you could consider it North-central Italy.

Viky æ¡‚çš®
It's in the central part of Italy.

Emeve
It is considered to be still in the Northern Italy in Toscany.

Zef H
If you divide the country into thirds; north, middle and south, Florence would be in the southern part of the north third. So, yes, it is in the north of Italy, but just barely.
