In Italy there is a lot of history, arts, culture, the climate it's very good, there are a lot of entertainments, BUT there are a lot of political and economical problems:

God yes, you could see a different place in Italy every day and never see the same place twice. It's the center of the old Roman Empire, tons of history, old buildings, museums, culture galore. Not to mention the awesome food and cute members of the opposite sex. :-)

I haven't lived there but I spent a few weeks and it was incredible. Amazing food, good people, beautiful country, impressive and intriguing cities. And if you're from the states, the WHOLE country is an historic place!

hiiiii!!!i'm rossella,an italian girl,i live in the south of italy in "puglia" !!well here the climate is very very good..we have wonderful and hot summers and winter not very cold!!is very beautiful to live here,we have a lot of wonderful places to visit,the best sea of italy (in gallipoli for esample),but sososo much nice cities,a lot of monuments like in rome,pisa..and who doesn't know venice??the lover's city???..oh i'm so luckly to live there..but i would like to go away..to go abroad to visit all the world..!!byebye rossy:o)

Its warm most of the year, the people are friendly but the ppl in cars are crazy! Very religious but very nice and formal =D

italy is beautiful and fun, it is full of history. however, it sounds like you need to go on vacation, not move. the two are very different. the weather is different, its cold in the north mostly except for summer, southern italy is mediterranean, so it doesnt really get that cold in winter, but it is not like miami, you cant go to the beach in winter...
If you want to move to italy it depends on your situation. If you have money already and are going to study then I would recommend it. If you have money already and can afford to not work then thats fine. If you have to support yourself based only on money from a job in italy then it will be quite difficult, jobs are not easy to get and you probably wont make that much. also dollars are not worth as much as euros..
there are a lot of socio-economic problems in italy..

About the weather we got summers very hot (easy to go beach if you like to) and warm autumn and spring (good to do little holidays and specially if you suffer the heat is the best time) winters are very cold and freezing in the northern part (so you can find snow, fog, ice) whlst in the south parts winters are more milds...so we can do lots of life "outside" not just go clubs all the time, compare to other countries Italy is quite safer and "free"...i think the variety of stuff you can do is wider for these reason..plus the scenary in italy is very various so lots things to see as well both natural (mountains, coasts) and link with human activities (monuments, arts) so if you like do this kind of things Italy can be amazing plus the food is very cured and tasty if you like to socialize eating is your place...on the other side in Italy we got less welfare state so if you are poor is harder than be poor in Uk or in Sweden for example...here they say you "manage" and sometime is not that simple...jobs as well are hard to find and they are not well paied

I'm italian and I can say that it's a beautiful place where you can live for a lot of reasons:
the food is the best in the world(we invented Pizza, Pasta, Lasagna, Salami, ecc. ecc.);
it's the cruddle of the western culture (with the greek) and it's the most important country for monuments;
the climate is mild and it's so different, it dipend if you go in Sicily or Calabria it's a little hot, if you go in Lombardy it's a little cold.
it have the language, the most poetics of the world, in fact since 200 years ago the songs were written in italian;
and the people are sympatic and sociable

i'm italian and live in italy(north italy,Triest)

there are a lot of social/political/economic problem and is very strong the influence of the Curch(the pope and the Vaticans...)and of the sad reality of Mafia and Camorra("malavita")in these areas..and the school system in particoular is very very bad(read online about Germini)

but yes,the typical food is good and the climate too!

Italy is long, the climate changes. Especially since Italy also has a lot of mountainous areas. And there's tons of historic places, especially in Rome and Pompeii and other areas in the north like Florence.

Yes it's really fun and the climate is gorgeous right now. But please, stay far away from the Naples area. It makes Italy look bad. Streets in Naples are filled with trash and the mafia is crawling all over that place. The rest of Italy is fabulous.
