Look, how would I know.
I want to know bec I met a guy in Italy who looks exactly like James Bond, and I wanted to tell him that, but I didn't know if Bond is such a sex symbol over there.

Absolutely: popularity of Mr Bond is not the same as it was till the 80s, but I think it's the same everywhere, even in the UK, but yes, definitely one of the very "icon" not only from showbiz but in pop culture.
Sean Connery himself is one of the most beloved and respected actor in Italy.
Personally, I prefer Roger Moore (who lives in Switzerland and is fluent in Italian, as well as his daughter :), but that's because I grew up while *he* was James Bond and was on Italian TV as Simon Templar! |

Hi, I live in Italy and yes Sean Connery and the James Bond films (especially the older versions) are very well-known in Italy. Sean Connery was pretty good looking when he was young (well he's still good looking...hahaha)....lucky girl! =) |

Probably in Italy is not that famous with the latest generations (20-30 years old) even if they know him, but for people over 40 years, when you speak about James Bond, they identify him as Sean Connery. Go easy, he's well known and be sure the man you'll be calling Sean Connery is happy with yr compairison being Mr.Connery still a sex-symbol. |
