Yes, Unfortunatly Venice is sinking. Venice is a man made Island off the coast of north-eastern Italy. Full tree logs were shoved into the ground through the water. Because the logs were surrounded by water, they quickly hardened and the City was built on top of the logs - true story. The City has always been sinking since it first started to be built, however the original engineers miscalculated the size of the logs needed and therefore did not calculate the depth of which Venice would sink - they were actually off by two feet. Estimates put Venice to slip another ten inches into the water before it completely settles. By then all of Venice will be under water by almost a foot.

Efforts are currently being made by the Italian government to save Venice. Plans have been designed to raise the city, install locks to channel the water or by building dams. If nothing is done, historical Venice would slowly deteriorate down to nothing
