I would have gone two days to Venice, and one to Milano..
Mainly because I think Venice is a town you need a little more time to draw in all the stuff there.
A tip:
I stayed here, and was very pleased. Nice place, good people, great veiw (at least from my room!). A little hard to find.

One day in Milan is sufficient if you are on a tight schedule. Two days in Venice will never be enough.
If you are a hard core shopper then you'll want to "spend" more time in Milan. If you want to walk to your hearts content in one of the most interesting cities in the world, with out the stink & noise of cars and buses, then Venice is your best bet. Milan in a day - you can see the Cathedral (Duomo) , the Scala Opera House, the Castel and shop 'til you drop! |

i was in Venice last summer only for 2 weeks and i loved it there it was a bit too crowded for me ive heard that best time to visit Italy is between November and April

I'm from Italy and I think you should stay for 2 days in Venice rather than in Milan. Venice is a very particular town. You got a lot of places to visit, like Milan of course, but here...you need to walk all the time because they have these small paths,narrow bridges and therefore no cars allowed. Walking will be fun. You'll see old houses, small particular shops and a whole lot of things! Enjoy your trip. :) |

i dont know about milano but venice needs two days really. if you want to see it properly. so i would go 2 days in venice and 1 in milano.
