Europe is safe and economical if you do some research ahead of time and use general common sense. The southern countries of Spain, Italy, and Greece are generally cheaper than Scandanavia and the UK. Airfare might be a challenge with oil prices going up, but once your there costs are generally reasonable.

Have Fun!

Depends where you go. The UK, obviously not the dollar is very weak. But if you go to Spain or Portugal everything is relatively cheaper than France or Italy. Happy travels!!

Yes, this is a very good time to travel in Europe especially Greece and the former Eastern Bloc

It's the best time to go right now from a weather point of view. As far as economy goes, I am assuming you're referring to the dollar exchange rate vs. the euro. It hasn't changed much lately and likely will not in the near future so I wouldn't worry about too much...

Europe, just like anywhere else, can be as cheap or as expensive as you manage it to be. While the off-season might be cheaper (Nov.-Mar.), Spring and Summer will definitely be worth your every dime. The main difference while your traveling to Europe is the cost of the flight. During the low season you can find a flight as cheap as $450 (taxes and fees included) from LA to Paris while the same destinations would run you for $950 in the summer. My advice to those who want to make the best out of Europe while traveling with a small budget is to go during the last two weeks of January, it will be cold but who cares when there's a sale in every corner of the continent. Most retailers have major sales in items for all seasons. Unlike their American counterparts which change their collection every season, most European retailers will keep most items in stock for the whole year and do a major update once a year (usually end of January), the sales are phenomenal. Whenever it is that you decide to travel you’ll have loads of fun especially if you stay at a hostel, they’re cheap and everyone staying there is in a budget so they’ll be very useful in finding out cheap buys in town.
