Is every one in Italy crazy about soccer?

I've never even been to a soccer game, but according to everyone else even the females act about soccer in Italy the way males act about football/basketball in America. So, is this true?

most of us are really attached to our respective football club and there's a lot of rivality but we're not all crazy. in the stadium the things change a lot, especially if you follow the match in the "curva" (curve/bend part of the stadium) were the root for the teams is higher and hot than in any other sector. so that in there you can find women shouting and screaming as well as men, but not necesserely. the team i support got an organized fan group called "girls" and they're thought!

Europeans love their soccer. As Americans we are very knowledgeable and used to a wide variety of sports. Most Americans will follow not just one sport, but maybe 3 or 4. And many of us have played multiple sports in our lives. In Europe soccer is the main show. They are not as into baseball, football, hockey and basketball as we are. So all their engery goes into one sport rather then multiple. Canada is the same way with hockey.Thats what a Irish friend of mine told me once. Italians are really no differant then most other countries. They are all very intense about it.

I know this, while in the military and stationed in Naples, Italy;
when Naples played Rome, and the game was in Rome, Naples, looked like a Ghost Town. Everyone went to Rome for the game, and I do mean everyone. So, if that is a indicator; they are crazy about their soccer, then so be it.

Men and women in most parts of the world are passionate about "football" (what Americans call soccer).

well...it's a strange period, since we have won the mondial( campioni del mondo!!!!!)...

but italian soccer (calcio)is in too deep...it's a great mess so from now on it will be less followed...but it's still the national sport and the most loved from italians!

anyway...i don't think that crazy it's the most right word...we can't generalize

(sorry for my english, it's so bad...)

I'm Italian, I like soccer, it is our national sport. But I'm not mad about it, because I'm awful in playing soccer!

"Every one" no, but the most of them, yes, and after Italy won the World Cup 2006, I think there are more.

I'm not! But it is true that it permeates our society so much you can't avoid knowing a bit about it in any case...
However, there are about 20 other sports I like better than soccer, and I change the channel if I see a game on TV...I can assure there are many people who do the same here, although they may not be the majority of the population!

girls usually get into it during the world cup but usually they clueless of the details.
But football is such a big part of social life in italy that it's really hard to be "out" of it.. those who are, are usually trying to make a point.
Most guys (and I mean 90%) can play and used to play on the streets or in teams.

The closest second sport fas far as general interest in italy is Formula1.. but that's way beyond football.
