Is it true that if you buy a ticket at the Palatine, you don't have to stand in line at the Colosseum?

So we can first go to the Palatine and then to the Colosseum and also...i think the Palatine is some kind of museum inside the Roman Forum, can u also confirm this? any extra info is deeply appreciated, thanx!

Yes very true!!! i went to Rome last year and i read in a tour book that you could do this...The line-up at the colosseum was over a 3 hour wait in the sun!!! so we walked over to the palatine and bought tickets went through there and then went back to the colosseum. When we got there we butted the whole line because they have a special line-up for advance tickets and the looks on the ppls faces in the line-up was priceless they were sooo mad!!! we got in no problem and no line-up..the palatine line-up was empty!!! trust me don't line up at the colosseum do the palatine first...they don't say that u can do this but u can they just don't tell u...

As stated by others, Palatine Hill, the Forum and the Colosseum are all in the same area, with Palatine Hill on the hill between the Colosseum and the Forum. Palatine Hill is an ancient residence, and is worth a walk through.

To answer your first question, if you buy a 24 hour pass at the Palatine Hill, it is also good for admission to the Colosseum.

Simple answer: Yes it's true. The Palantine doesn't usually have the line ups the Colleseum has, so definitely go there first and then hit the Colleseo.

Yes! I did this. Queues around the Colosseum were huge! We bought our tickets at the Palatine Hill office and waited about 30 seconds in line. The ticket is good for viewing Palatine Hill, which is right by the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum. The Forum is free. You nearly can't tell where it ends and Palatine Hill begins. They are on top of each other.

We went to the Forum, the Hill, took a lunch break, and then went to the Colosseum. And bypassed the lines! Be sure to take your time and enjoy just walking around.

The Palantine Hill next to the Roman Forum is more like a park with the ruins of several palaces and villas, the site of the first prehistoric settlement, a convent, a small musuem, the Farnese Gardens, great views of the city, a good place for a picnic. Admission to Palatine Hill is free with a purchase of ticket for the Colloseum but not the other way around. You can miss waiting on line by making an advanced reservation for the Colloseum see link.

When you buy a ticket to see the Colosseum, you will receive free entry to the Palatine Hil area next to it. This is actually a real hill, but it is like an amazing outdoor museum of ancient buildings, where very wealthy people used to live.

Unfortunately, queues are a bit of a way of life during peak tourist season in Rome, but you can reduce waiting time by arriving early in the day and by pre-booking.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday! :-)
