Cats are protected in Venice-it was one of the first places to implement animal protection laws. The cats there are neutered and looked after-because they are neutered, there is not the flood of unwanted kittens and street cats that you see in many other holiday destinations. There are animal charities and a sanctuary there.
I have found this out as I am going next week and was concerned -I run an animal charity myself mainly in Spain but fron the U.K.

No, no one has killed the stray cats in the city of Venice. What they should do away with are the pigeons and the rats... and some of the residents who don't clean up after their dogs. |

the rats exist everywhere, but unfortunately this happens very often, and you know why?they think that it affects tourism, and they dont understand that just in a negative way tourism can be affected |
