we often saw policemen chasing and busting the street vendors, never the customers. however, by law, there are very high fines for both sellers and buyers of fake designer stuff. |

You can be fined, especially if you try to bring fake article back into the United States. They tried to fine me for bringing fake DVD's back into the country, but i was able to talk myself out of it. If you are going to brin fake items back into the United States, I would reccomend you hide it very well or you could be in trouble with United States Customs and Immigration Officers. |

When you come back into the country you will have to fill out a customs and duty form. It asks you to fill out how much stuff you bought while you were out of the country... don't fill it out. no one does. As long as you don't come back with an insane number of fake prada bags no one will say anything. I came back from Italy with 5 fake ones between me, my mom, and sis and no one said anything. I have been to Europe 4 times and I have never listed the things I have bought, and no one has said anything. |

This is 100% true and it happened to my friend Lisa in Venice! The bags are actually not cheap at all - its best to get them in thailand or asia on the way home. |

I'm not sure about it BUT I heard of one celebrity from one country.... She went inside Prada shop in Italy with her fake Prada bag and she was chased out! She was told, "Get out of here with your fake bag!" *lol* |

It is true, and they are being particularly severe these days. Once they only fined the people sellig fake stuff, now they also fine the buyer, but they have to catch you doing it! My advice is... go to one of the outlets: you can buy designer stuff for great prices, and it's legal!!!
here is a site that can help locate them:http://www.factory-outlet-italy.com/en/FO/index.html |

yes... it's true, but i don't know how police is severe about it... maybe in big cities in main street they are, but if you are fined, fines are very expensive (also 1000 €) ... |

Yes it it true. Fake stuff is a counterfeit, and it goes against laws related to trademark and copyright infringement.
Many countries today are active in prevention, Italy and France first because of the large impact on their economies. |

Yup,the always catch loads of french crossign the border by car when they come back from their holiday from Italy.(and they search everything).
But since you are going there by plain you can easily buy a few things, say you got nothing to declare and hide it in your suitcase.(it will go through x-ray but nobody is gonna notice the LV designs or Gucci or Prada, hehehe)But if your looking to buy counterfeits you can google a bit and import those directly from Asia.lol |
