Termini is not the best area, but it is not worse. I know that is not a great answer. It is not like the area near the Spanish Steps, but it is nice. I have stayed near Termini.

Hi,,,, the hotels are ok,,,, just dont go wandering around the terminal itself at night time..... and if your in Rome,,,, beware of the pickpockets ,, they are very good.......

good luck

It's not the greatest area. The area between Termini and St Mary Major isn't too bad, but the area behind Termini is very sketchy. Be cautious, especially at night. There are other hostels in Rome - several near the Vatican, which is a much safer area.

I've been to Rome and walked around Termini Station, I think , it's safe but everything looks a little bit rotten . But there isn't so much to see /visit as far as I remember .

have a nice day

Not at all. It's so dangeruos even for an italian girl like me. don't take the metro please and hold your money under your clothes

to one side of the station its not that pleasant. (the right side if facing the station). I stayed at a bed & breakfast a few blocks from the station. I walked to the station one night, and altho i don't get easily uncomfortable in these situations, it was abit suspect. Its fine - if abit dirty - during the day. But at night be careful.

According to the other people that answered you question it's NOT safe. So I would not go there if I were you unless you REALLY know somebody that lives there. Watch "Hostel", that movie is based on true events. Then tell me if you would go to a non-tourist area!!!!

Although there are now many tourist hotels around this area, it is not considered to be safe, especially at night (drug dealing, bums, ...pick pockets are everywere...). If you are travelling alone, I'd pick a different area, just to be on the safe side.

It depends which side. I stayed walking distance from Termini (about 5min walk). There were a bunch of hotels where I was so lots of tourists...I didn't run itno any troubles there but don't forget we are talking about ROME! Don't walk alone (esp if you are a female), wear a money belt or at least wear your purse or backpack in front of you, keep your eyes on it the whole time, never bring all your money...only what you need for the day. Watch out for the gypsies, they hang out outside of Termini (as well as alot of other places in Rome), and don't stand too close to the road when you are waiting to cross-- watch people on scooters who might try to snatch your bag!
