It's impossible to campare two different style most of all it they are both beautiful.
It depends about your taste.
Venice is more "oriental"... "arabian". Because Venice had a commerce with Costantinople. So it's full of gold, mosaics...
Instead Florence it's a typical italian Renaissance city.

I have been to both places in my travels, and I would have to say Venice, but Florence is also a very beautiful city, but in terms of Architecture I would say Venice, for it is very original

I've been to both, and I would say venice is has more beautiful buildings, and with the canals and everything, its possibly the most beautiful place on earth. but florence has the duomo which is pretty amazing...

They are both architectural masterpieces. Venice does have the added uniqueness of being on water. Having said that I am a strong believer that a holiday is what you make of it, and what you experience when you arrive. It's usually the weirdest things that make a holiday memorable.
