Is the area around Buenos Aires street in Milano safe at night? |
I've booked an apartment one block behind this street about 1.5 km from milan cenral station. Is that a safe area? what are the unsafe areas of milan at night and what are the more luxurious areas? how is the area on the other side of the city along the canal? |

i have many friends who live near buenos aires area and they are all satisfied! maybe try to avoid the central station at night... it's not a good reputation!
anyway, the usafe areas in milan could be baggio, barona, quarto oggiaro, la comasina (they are all in the suburbs...) while the more luxurious ones are monte napoleone, repubblica, san babila, brera, cadorna... and all the center in general. the area along the canal, called navigli area, is quite safe, very populated at night especially on saturdays, full of bars and restaurants...really typical, coloured and vital during the day... it seems like an old milan! |

Corso Buenos Aires, one of the most important shopping veins in Milan, fully of shops, pubs and some supermarkets.
At night: I suggest you not to go at Loreto Square or around that area.... it's not safe.
Try go in direction of city centre, Duomo or San Babila.
Bye

Hey I bought a home near there but I don't live there cause I'm American but I've been living in milan for a long time and I'll tell u that Buenos Aires Street is quite long and the safety of the street changes a lot from the top to the end. The street starts in Piazzale Loreto that actually is not a really safe place at night even though it's controlled by Military, but then it estends until porta venezia, is near the park and it's a quite good place. So my advice to u is to be careful at night and maybe try to avoid the subway as public transport after midnight/one and DON'T use the suburan lines after 10 PM because it's like a train that comes from outside the city and that stops when it's in the city, so during the day it's like a subway but afte 10 or 11 it become very dangerous because of immigrants like Indian or Afrcan who very often are drunk. I can also tell u that the more luxurious areas are the center, Cadorna, Moscova ( it's full of night club, discos and pub ), The area called ARCO ( near the big park and it's full of teen agers and pub. I also suggest u not to go in places like Quarto Oggiaro, Viale Padova, and Central Station ( especially at night ). As an american that loves his country I'll tell u that Milan is a wonderful city and u can find there whatever u want. HAve a good trip! |

It's safe, I stayed there many times.. like in any other city, avoid the small streets.. Milan is safer than Genova, for instance.. in Italy for some reason it's the train stations you need to be aware of at night.. but in Milan, it's ok really.. Brera area is the most luxiourious for cafes and art and Via Spiga has all the upscale shopping. Along the canal, Porta Tricinese is a nightly hangout with lots of cafes, restaurants and bars, a must visit and yes, it's safe! Enjoy.
What is your hotel called? You should be okay, just don't carry flashy jewlery! |

Don't worry: Milano is a pretty safe place, and Corso Buenos Aires, on the street itself is ok as it is full of light and people.
Generely speaking just don't go in small side streets at night for long walks all alone: but this is common sense that applies anywhere. |
