Is the mask mandatory in 2009 in the Venice Carnival? Had anyone been to venice's carnival this year and saw this? Was it possible to enter to Saint Mark's without a mask?
I was in Venice last weekend for Carnevale and will probably go back again this weekend. There are a lot of people who are not in masks or costumes. There are some specific events that require costumes to get in, but most of the festivities don't.

you don't have to wear a mask to go to venice carnival... I suggest you to buy one there, they cost about 10-15 euro...and it's a wonderful souvenir!

You don't have to wear a mask. You can just walk around dressed normally if you want and take photos of those dressed up.
