Is there anybody living in Sorrento, Italy? |
Hi! I need some details about the town:
Where to eat, dance, swim? I know there is a disco in Positano "Rock in the rocks", so i'm wondering how can we get there from Sorrento & if it is possible to find a free room in any hotel in Positano when we arrive there? We are planning our trip in August.
And by the way are there some shops in Sorrento/Positano selling selective perfumes? |

No, the entire city was abandoned in 1978. All buildings were bulldozed to the ground. The Italian Navy uses the former city as a target for offshore bombardment. It is called "Italy's Forgotten City". |

I think Greenie is smoking something not too good....ok Rock on the Rocks is quite good but there is no public transport between the twon towns after midnight so its taxis. i will cost about €25 oneway....as for free rooms in Positano....nothing is free in Positano, its one of the most expensive towns in the Region......you should book hotels in advance as August is very high season here, especially on the Amalfi coast.....Caruso in Piazza Tasso is very good to eat, as is La Fenice.....you must eat seafood while in Sorrento as they are wonderful cooks and can make the most wonderful dishes from simple ingredients!!!! In the centre, around Piazza Tasso and Piazza San Antonio there are many pubs and discos, the choice is endless.Plus in August there are many different festivals, most beaches are 'private' so by paying about €5 a day you can have your own changing room umbrella and two loungers, they also give discounts for week long hire. I suggest you travel around the area, for example in postitano the beach is free! In Postiano and Sorrento there are many 'profumerie' which sell select profumes as well as the possibility to buy handicrafts such as inlaid works, artistic ceramics and scented wax, or delicacies like "limoncello" sweets, "rosolio" liqueur, jams and preserved vegetables, or silver jewels, corals and cameos, valuable embroideries on table-cloths etc.....plus in Sorrento on Tuesdays there is the local market where you can buy almost everything!!!!!
Hope I have been of help! |

Hi, I don't live in Sorrento but I was there last summer.there are loads of amazing restaurants and bars.there's a restaurant called L'antica trattoria which is expensive but well worth it.The best ice cream comes from bougainvillea gelaterie on the corsa italia. If you keep on going down the road from there you'll find an outside bar that's run by an Italian/Australian lady. It's very friendly.there's a bar in the drains area that has loads of flags outside and a man trying to get you in.you can get a good laugh in there!my favourite bar is on the piazza tasso called bar syranuse.you can watch the world go by and it's not as expensive as other bars on the piazza.boun viaggo! |
