I have been to Italy. I lived in Rome for a few months in a flat on the Piazza Farnese, within a stone's throw distance from the French Embassy, in front of which I would have gelato every night from that place in the walkway between the Farnese and the Campo di Fiori...but I can't remember the name of it.

I loved the history. I hated the unpunctuality. I loved the Vatican. I hated the driving and traffic. I loved the cats in the Forum. I hated being hit up by pandhandlers. I loved the singing of the Italian carpenters below my window. I hated the sleazy Italian guys who hit on me thinking I would fall for their dumb lines. I loved the shoes the women wore. I hated the heavy hooker make-up the women wore. I loved the mix of tourists from all over the world. hated the Asian groups who crowded everyone else away from the Trevi fountain with their infernal cameras.

I loved Italy but missed America terribly. I suppose, no matter where you're from or where you travel, there's no place like home.

Problem with being in Italia now vs. when I was there is $$$
Then, the dollar was strong and Italy was still using the lire.
Now, well, you know...Euro and Dollar nightmare.

I live in Germany. On my first trip to Italy I was in the back of the car sleeping. When we hit the boarder (back then) I awoke, sat up and said "we are in Italy", and went back to sleep. I thought it was a dream but my friends in front said that it really happen.

But the biggest reason for me love to Italy is my daughter, she is have Italian, and very special.

And there is somebody very special there - a so called soul mate.

i go to Italy every other year and as soon as get back I start to plan my next trip. Even tho is 12 years off we have talked about moving to Italy when I retire. It truly is the most amazing country with the most amazing people!

i really want to go there because it sounds beautiful and the language is beautiful. i take italian in school and I just love it.
