Q.1) In all the seasons Montalbano speaks Italian with strong Sicilian accent (and only few words of Sicilian dialect, because otherwise it wouldn't be understandable by every non-sicilian like me).
Q.2) Yes, they do. A little bit difficult for old people (like my folks) more accustomed to a dialect than Italian.
Q.3) Uhm... i have never seen "I Cesaroni", but i know that actor. He is from Rome and speaks with strong roman accent. Still i believe they speak italian for the same reason Montalbano speaks Italian - it wouldn't be understandable for non-romans.
Q.4) I Cesaroni is a dumb show, while Montalbano is beautiful for scenoraphy and for the story (Camilleri is one of the best Italian writers) but i bet Cesaroni language is easier than Montalbano because the stories are easier to understand.
Q.5) Alex Britti and Tiziano Ferro do not have any accent while they sing. Eros Ramazzotti has a weird voice, but it's not a regional accent. Nek and Laura have Emilia romagna accent.
Q.6) Yes i have. Uhm... they speak kind of slow. Their S sounds kind of italian Z... .for example they say "Zvizzera" and not "Svizzera"... i don't know if you get it... the Z of Zvizzera is like when i say "cazzo"... Also they have strange accent. A family that I met in Lugano, said something like this, "Te prepari la pa-sh-ta cul pe-sh-to". Lot of their words are very similar to Lombard dialect, although they sound more like... how can i say.... funny!
Anyway, I see when you speak about un-accented Italian you are meaning "Tuscan Italian"? That's not the regular italian. Italian came from Tuscan dialect, but then the two languages evolved separately, so that there are some structures that are commonly used by tuscans but they are uncorrect in Italian... for example they use impersonal structures on personal sentences. Here is one example: "We all go to McDonald's" (which is a personal sentence, infact the subject is "WE ALL"), in italian you would say "Andiamo tutti da McDonald's". In Tuscany you would hear people say something like "Noi si va tutti da McDonald's", which is not italian. Moreover they have those strange sounds with the hard and sweet "C"... "Cosa c'e'", in italian would sound like "Hosa sh-e'" in tuscan. |

1) montalbano speaks italian but with a sicilian accent
2) they do, coz it's not sicilian dialect, but sicilin accent
3) actors in "cesaroni" speak sometimes italian and sometimes roman dialect...however we italians can understand what they say because in roman dialect there aren't lots of strange words...it's an accent, not a real dialect
4) You'd better watch something else....Seeing "Montalbano" and "cesaroni" you'd not learn italian very well. they're nice fictions (i cesaroni has the highest ratings of all the italian fictions!), but it is not the best way to learn italian! try to buy some italian books with a translation in english...or, if you wanna watch a fiction, i suggest "don matteo"....it's not very nice, but actors speak correct italian.
5) i dont know a lot about the singers you said. however britti, ramazzotti and ferro have a roman accent, but it's not too evident, while i've never heard a milano accent in nek or laura pausini...i dont even know where they're from!!!
6) i've travelled all around the switzerland and people living in italian-switzerland do have a very different accent from ours!!! they speak italian but italian people (living in italy) cant understand their accent very well, coz it's influenced by other switzerland's language (like german and french that are not the same germanand french spoken in Germany and France!)
I wanna tell you that we dont speak of tuscany italian...italian was born in tuscany (i think you know dante, petrarca e boccaccio), but this is the first time i've heard about "tuscany italian"...and i am italian!!!
QUESTA E' UNA DELLE LINGUE PIU' DIFFICILI MA SE CONTINUI A STUDIARE LA SAPRAI PARLARE COME NOI!
keep working...bye!!! |

sorry for my english, i am not a big fan of montalbano or the other show and really i dont know about their accent.
but i come from milano and we have our particular accent. for the italians is easy find it. i try to explain. we usually use the term open the vocal when the vocal sound is long for example in italin is milano, for the milanesi is milaano, the vocal where put the accent for us il long. another difect of pronunce is usually we put the article in front of the name of person and this is wrong.
yes when you hear to talk the swisse people from ticino for me is very easy to find they talk similar the german when speaks italian similar accent.
the toscan people usually dont prononce the letter "c" for example they tell oa ola o la hannuccia orta orta(coca cola con la cannuccia corfta corta). people for naples us a lo the sc. the roman people use a lot the preposition de (de roma, de toma, de coccio) the correct will be di roma di toma di coccio.
cheers from perth |

Hey I'm italian and I'm from Naples.. i'll tell u what
1)Montalbano speaks Sicilian but it's not so difficult .
2)Italian (from Venice Milan Rome Naples ... ) can understand it 'cause they don't use a real strong accent.
3)The same for Cesaroni . You can understand it because it's just a little variation of voice nothing special
4)I don't know I think u can watch Cesaroni and Montalbano
5)No... They speak normal italian.. but I don't listen to them so I guess not but I'm not sure.
6)I don't know . If you want to learn italian it's better you learn Italian Italian and not Swiss Italian.
Bye

so
italy has got a gret variety of dialects......many many many many many.....where i live (very close to paestum) the dialect change also beetwen two village very near.....if a man of naples speak his own dialect speedly i don't undersend all.....so above all in the south of italy the variety of dialect is immense....but if i hear a man of veneto (or milan) speaks his dialect i don't understend anything!!! really!!!!....
anyway the most popular dialect italyan is that of naples.....very very famous here in all the italy....if you wanna know it i advise you to go in youtube and write alessandro siani.....a Neapolitan doc and the best Neapolitan comic (but a man of nort italy probably doesn't understend him)
but is very famous the roman dialect too and sicialian.....even if in comparison to the neapolitan are more understendoon......
in the movie anyway never use to speak a marked dialect .......but the actors in " I Cesaroni" speak Roamn dialect and Montalbano speak the sicilian....but isn't a very dialect.... |
