Stresa is small but very lovely place with beautiful old Villa to visit. In October the weather will be not too cold with some sunshine during the day. You can use a boat services to visit nice places.

Hi, I'm from Como that is another lake near Lago Maggiore...and the weather is more or less the same...in october it's usually cloudy and rainy (but it depends!!last year was really warm and sunny) temperatures are around 15°C...
I have to say that weather in that period of the year is always changing from one year to another, so it's difficult to say what is going to be this year!!!
The best thing is to bring some light clothes and the heavy ones too!
Sorry if my english wasn't so good!
Bye...

stresa is beautiful. try going to isola bella, isola pescatore. the islands are great. they have only 1 tourist area on isola pescatore and thats by the ferry docks. stresa is nice but everything does close there before 8 if u intend on going out for the night. a few banks are in the area for converting money and the atm. also grocery stores to get cheaper water and some snack foods.
