Question 1)your textbook is not wrong,in italian we say "i vestiti" for clothes but "il vestito" means dress.
"i vestiti" is the plural form for "il vestito" but it is also the word that we use to say clothes in general.

question 5)to say "here you are" we say "ecco" but it's not completely wrong to say "prego"

The word IL is an article and it is used before a Singular Masculine word.
And VESTITO is a Masculine term meaning CLOTH.
So IL VESTITO means THE CLOTH |

I'm italian and i can answer you. "i vestiti" means clothes and is the plural form of il vestito. In italian there is only general form (vestiti) for describe the clothes (all kind of clothes). La camicia is not same of la magietta. La camicia is the shirt, la maglietta is the t-shirt. But la maglietta can be also a jersey. "tailleur" (that is a french word, not italian) is a dress suit composted with a skirt and a jacket. "gonna" means skirt."prego" corresponds to "you are welcome". You can say when you answer to "grazie" (it means thank you, thanks).
I hope to have been useful!!! |
