Italian weddings?
Hi I have been invited to a wedding in italy and as this is my first italian wedding I wanted to have some idea of what to expect. Do they throw conffetti at the bride and groom after the wedding and do they give lucky horseshoes to the couple like they do in england and anything else I should know
Thanks
well I'm Italian..I live near Milan..we've got lots of traditions which could be different...it depends on where are you..and, of course, we throw rice at the bride and groom in my area we don't throw confetti:we just eat them,,,They're soooo good :-) I hope you'll enjoy yourself here in Italy..

There are many traditions at an Italian wedding. Many of these differ by region and by family. Not knowing exactly which region of Italy the family is from, you can expect many things from toasting glasses and throwing them to the ground, to stomping on pasta on the ground.
There are many customs and I am sure that the family in Italy will be well prepared based on their own traditions.
I was at wedding in Italy last summer and it was great to experience the traditions there. However, the Italians that are at the wedding also want a taste of the traditions and customs from an American wedding.
To add a taste of the US, be prepared with a non-invasive American tradition that you are familiar with.

yes they throw confetti and rice as well...about the horseshoes i never heard of it but if you want to do it you are free to do it because horseshoes brings luck here as well....

This is your first Italian wedding, I am married Italian so I have some first hand experience about this subject. My best suggestion is make sure you go ready to eat. drink and dance. Also make sure you polite to the bride's family or you may get thrown out of the reception. Some Italian wedding last anywhere from a couple hours to up to a week.
