well it depends what you like, if you like history def rome or florence, but it depends maybe that will be too hard with a baby. depends how old he is you could do venice (my fav) but if u need a baby carriage it may be hard to nagivate with all the bridges. If you want a relaxing family vaca, you could do southern italy like the almafi coast or even sicily. ciao.

Hello my wife and myself just returned from a month in Italy and found it Tobe a great country to visit and will be returning again next year for 6 weeks. I have a long list of great places to stay at a great price. We flew into Rome and left out of Rome. We stayed 3 days in Rome then picked up our rental car and headed out. If you would like some our information please contact us at chefhoward43 on yahoo. Good luck and have fun.. Ciao

My advise: it depend what you like to see. If you wanna see Venice, I prefer to stay 2 nights there, then 4 nights in Firenze, then like 5-6 night you can lieve for Rome, if you wanna go for a shopping as well. Napoli, 2 nights, Milan is only for shopping and perhaps to see La Scala and Dom. Northern Italy: Bergamo. In general: Italy is beautiful. Go there and enjoy!

I think it depends on what your objectives are...

For site seeing and Art...
You can't miss Florence or Rome. The inredible amount of Art and History in these cities will keep you busy for days (weeks).

For relaxing...
Cinqueterre and the Italian Riviera is perfect. My husband and I just got back from there and had a great time. Great for families too. There were tons of families with young children. It has a much slower pace which may be better when traveling with a child.

Which ever itinerary you choose, you can't make a bad choice in going to Italy. Enjoy the Art, Food, and Culture!

Hi,

If you are planning your trip during winter time (before March-April) you should go to Sicily to have some warm weather (20-25 C).
The mainland can be quite cold and rainy.

The southern coast of Sicily are very nice.
It has a great nature and many historical spots you can visit.
Agrigento and Syracuse (Siracusa) hosts many great temples from the Greek periode.

The most charming and romantic place is Taormina.

Have a look at this site for more Italian tips:

I wish you a nice trip wherever you choose to go!

I went to a few places in Italy:
Rome itself is an entire trip... everything is there. Depending on what your interests are, read up on places a little before you go to enrich your experience. The Vatican is spectacular!
Personally, Rome was my favourite (it helped knowing people there of course)
Venice (depending on the time of year) is a treat but I'm not sure how much you could enjoy it with a child to be honest.
Pisa is okay but there isn't any reason to stay more than an hour.
Florence is a jewel... like Rome one needs to spend time to take it all in. I don't think you'd be disappointed anywhere you go in Italy.
All I can suggest more is research... these t.v. guys may help:

You cannot do Italy in a holiday. Focus on highlights and take one region at a time. There too much history, culture and food. Once you've been there you will understand what I am trying to tell you.

Don't forget, take your time to absorb italian life style. See the Fodors website to check out popular places. Oh do not join a group. Organize yourself, get a rental car and go from place to place please!!

Hi, I'm italian. Wherever you go in Italy, you'll find something interesting. Venice, Rome, Naples and Florence are the best places you can visit, because they are the most famous, but we have a lot of beautiful cities, less big. Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, Pompei, near Naples. Siena, Arezzo, Pisa, Lucca, near Florence. Padova, Verona, Garda lake, near Venice...
I suggest you of choosing a region and visit it completely, or, if you stay for a lot of time, you can visit more than one region. Sicily is wonderful... Sardina is great, Campania is amazing, Umbria is cool. You have to come and see with your eyes, I can tell you that wherever you'll go you'll be satisfied!
If you want more information contact me! Bye

Italy is great!!! I`ve been there many times but the best region is the Toskana!! The wine theere is the best in the world!! My tip is; rent a house with a pool and enjoy Italy!! But also Venice and Rome are great!!! Don`t go to these Huge beaches with thousands of people, this sucks!! Search your own bay just for you!!!!

HI, i have been going to Italy for about 15 yrs now,, i suggest that you go to Florence,, it has a lot of art and museums,, and that is the Leather Goods,,,place to shop,
Be sure to go to the open market near the post office, and rub the huge brass Pig,,, you will see it!!
When in Rome, and elsewhere,, be very aware of the pickpockets, they are Very Good!! cameras, phones, backpacks, are not safe...

If in Rome, go early to see the Systine Chapel, wear comfortable shoes, and it takes 4 hours just to get to the chapel..
