Italy help?

In April I'm going to Italy with two of my friends (i'm in high school) and we're going to: Venice, Pisa (for a half day), Florence, general Tuscany, Rome, Orvieto, Sorrento, Capri, Pompeii, Rome and the Vatican. It's a tour, but they do give us free time. Does anyone have any suggustions on little known (off the beaten path) places to eat, or see?

Thanks in advance!

We're not allowed to leave the citys we're in since it's a school trip

I think that the city you are going to visit are so beuatiful and full of thing, people, shops that in your free time it will be interesting and amusing to stroll down the street, taking a personal lokk to monuemnts and maybe, why not, making shopping.
Try also italina coffee, pizza and chocolat!
Have a good visit of my beautiful country.
I can advis to add to the city you will visit Turin, is very beautiful

Depends how much free time you actually have as sounds like you'll be very busy :)

In Rome head to Trastevere for something to eat. It the just over the river and is the old jewish ghetto. Cobbled streets off cobbled streets with a lot of bars and restaurants. You'll be spoilt for choice with where to eat, and the prices are not expensive like in the centre.

A word of advice for the trip: Bring some nice flat shoes as the cobble stones in Italy are horrible if you have stilettos!

Try the Yellow restaurant in Florence. They have great pizza!

Verona and vicenza

Up north you got Padova which is close to Venice. Going down you got Siena near Orvieto, this medieval town is beautiful, if you got the chance to see it go ahead. Near Sorrento you got Positano and Amalfi, two very nice little towns. But to tell you the truth you have already a good itinerary to follow, so I guess you'll be pretty tired and you'll want to use some of your free time to rest or just to hang around in the places you'll be visiting. However I hope you enjoy it, Italy is a beautiful country.
