Italy in May? |
I would like to go to Italy in May for a week, but I don't know which side would be better and warmer? I was thinking Sorrento, naples, campania (that area) but the opposite side (the adriatic sea side) looks welcoming too...can someone please give me more information about this |

May is a great time to go to Italy. the weather is good (not too hot) and it's before the peak of the tourist season so it won't be so crowded. Either side of Italy (East or West) has interesting things to see or do. The western side around Sorrento would be an excellent choice. It's a short distance to Pompeii, you can take the ferry to Capri for a day, visit Amalfi and other towns along the Amalfi Coast. Take a day to visit Naples. Visit the park at Vesuvius.
On the eastern side, there's Polignano al Mare, Bari, and some interesting and unique architecture. The Eastern side is a little quieter. |

La Toscana (Tuscany) is just great this time. Everywhere flowers, green and not too many tourist. Skip Naples since very dangerous, dirty etc. La Costa Amalfitana is beautyful but very expensive. After all it's YOUR choice and inform yourself on the Net. |

Sure, May is perfect!
The month between April and June are the best for visit italy.
It's warm but not too much warm, weather is good.
Avoid August becouse there it's full of italian sun seeker! Too much people, too much traffic density, and could be rain.
p.s. i can't undestand who go to Venice in winter, i't's so sad... |

the climate on the coasts its the same...maybe the adriatic side is more windy...there are about 77°F i think...but the south of italy is warm at all.
in may even milan (north of italy) is quite hot... |

I just went in September for two weeks. there wasn't much i wanted to see on the east coast. we went to Sorrento, Pompeii, Rome,Capri, Florence, Pisa, etc. I think if you are looking for sights to see the west coast is where you want top go. If you are looking for agriculture, and a quiet villa to spend a week and drink wine and eat cheese, then the east is where you should go. |
