If you have Euros, it's about $1,400 dollars. If you have lira's you can't trade those in anymore. |

$1,000 Euros are the equivalent of $1,447 US |

Well, I hope for your sake it is 1000 Euros which converts to about 1,448.17 USD since 1 USD = 0.690528 EUR.
If however you have 1000 liras, keep it and in 100 years it will be worth a heck of alot more as it will be a collectors item.

The exchange rate is about 1.40 dollars per Euro. But you will never get that rate. Going to a bank and selling the Euros back, you will probably get something more like 1.27 per Euro and will probably pay a $15- 20 "overnight" fee. You pay the fee, even if you are not in a hurry. Overnight is the only way they send money. |

I saw that everybody gave to you the current change euro-dollar, but I suppose that you have 1.000 of lira instead of euro (actual italian coin), because the rates $/€ is known by everybody (especially in these days).
I can say to you that the conversion lira/euro was fixed in 1936,27 lira=1 euro. The cross rates should be 1 $ = 1.307,69 lira. (dollar/euro= 0,68; lira/euro 0,00052, so 0.68/0.00052 is 1307.,69...).
So 1.000 dollars are 1.307.692,30 lira. |

In Italy, they used to use the Lira. But now, most of Europe is using a standard currency called the Euro. From what I know the Euro is somewhat higher to the US dollar. The currency difference fluctuates on a daily basis. As of the time when I answered this question, the exchange rate is indicated in the link below. |

If the bills are the currency now in use which is the EURO (€)...It's about $750.00 (US dollars).
The exchange rate fluctuates, it isn't always exactly the same amount.
If your bills are prior to 2000, the currency then in use in Italy was the LIRA... and 1000 liras were worth about one dollar. |
