Leaning Tower of Pisa (location)?

I'm searching for hotels, and I'm wanting to know what district the Tower is in. I'm looking for hotels around the Miracoli, that are affordable. We're on a budget, and also time constraint, so we would like to be close.

Actually, we are flying into Pisa, we will arrive late, so we are staying the night. We're seeing a few things before we leave for Florence the next day. So it technically will only be a day trip, but, we have to sleep somewhere! Thanks

Hi, I live in Pisa. I suggest you Via Santa Maria and Via Roma. The closest ones are in Via Santa Maria. Both the streets are restricted to the traffic so, if you're going to make a reservation at one of the hotels in those areas, ask the hotel about the permission to enter. Otherwise you might be fined. Unless you're going to take a taxi from the airport...
I don't remember any name but if you want my help you can tell me what hotel you are interested in and I can check how far it is from the tower 'cause both the streets are very long. The University I'm studying at is behind Piazza dei Miracoli and I go there almost every day so it's not a problem to me.

Although I cannot tell you what area the tower is in, I will tell you something about Pisa. I have been there many times, always to take visitors to see the Leaning Tower (I lived in Liguria, about an hour and a half away from Pisa), and we have both driven into town or taken the train. When we drove, we parked quite close to the tower and could walk just down the street and we were there. But when we took the train, the station is not nearly as close and we had to walk quite some distance to get to the tower. Although I, too, believe that there is not much else to see in Pisa, it is not a bad walk, there are many shops along the way, and some other older buildings that are worth a peek. I do remember several hotels along that main street, but I honestly can't remember what their names were as I never actually needed to stay there. By the way, the walk (even though we walked slowly, shopped a bit and took many photos) only took about an hour. So no matter where you find a hotel in Pisa, it won't be far. And if you really are in a hurry, you can always just take a taxi from the hotel to the tower.

Hint: If you're wanting to go up inside the tower, make a reservation ahead of time! It depends on the time of year, but they only allow a small number of people up into it and many times people are turned away.

Have fun and enjoy Pisa (and Florence!).
