Coco Riley

Live in Spain or Italy?

Hi!

My niece is going to be an Au Pair next summer and she is hesitating between Italy and Spain. She is studying both languages at school, but is a little better in italian, because she had courses of italian during a year before starting learning it at school this year. She just started spanish. When is gets back here after the summer, she is gonna have these courses again and she doesn't know which one she wants to have better marks than the other, she would love to learn both, but I don't think it's possible unless she goes in Italy for a month and a half and then Spain for another month and a half. Also Spanish is a language that is more commonly used in the world, but we have Italian origins from my grandfather. She might go back again, as an Au Pair in the country where she isn't gonna go, the summer after, but then her 2 years in CEGEP will be done and it won't have an impact on her marks and she would really love to have good marks in both. My niece is the kind of student who is really good, but always want to be better and if she can have the higher marks, she is really happy. She is studying in languages. She is better in Italian because she has taken classes of Italian for 1 year before starting it at school this year.

If you were her, where would you go? Italy or Spain??
Thanks!
Also which regions of Italy and Spain do you think is better to live? less dangerous?

She is not a night owl, she doesn't go out at all so the night life in each country doesn't matter.

Yes I did ask it before, but I only get one or 2 answers each time and everytime I ask it I get new ones. You don't have to answer if you don't want or if you already did.

You've asked this question at least three times already.
She will have to decide for herself where she wants to go more. Either way she can't really go wrong. Be aware though, Au Pair work is hard work.

If she's going to be an Au Pair it's important to know the language and if she's better at Italian than maybe Italy is best. Plus, in my opinion, Italy is always better. I love the food, the people, the culture, cities... everything. Spanish may be more "important" in the world, but she's learning both anyway, isn't she? And if she does choose to be an Au Pair in Italy it doesn't mean she still can't learn Spanish.

Personally, I think Italy is the best choice.
+she'll get to know her heritage that she shares with her grandfather.
+she'll get to explore a beautiful country
+if she's better at italian she'll receive higher marks

as for where to go, i am not sure. i love the Puglia region though.

Italy.... the north is safer than the southern part...... and also we have the best food in the north and many things to see that spain dont offer ;) and people here love the english language, so in case she runs into a misunderstanding people here can speak english - some very well too....... oh and our dialect is more sofisticate than that of the south :D
good luck and happy travels to her

Both countries are very similar, but Spanish is much stronger than Italian.

If she goes to Spain AVOID Barcelona and Basque Country. The have another language apart of Spanish and it is obligatory to know it there.

If I was her I would try Salamanca: good spanish accent, good nightlife (not crazy) and very good food.

If not Salamanca she can try Madrid or somewhere in centre Spain. _South of Spain has a very strong accent.
