Most of the tours you will find are big, anonymous bus tours. If you are looking for a very first-class experience with small, intimate groups, have a look at DiscoverSoriano.

DiscoverSoriano tours are generally a week in length, and are limited to 8 people in a group. They include wonderful sightseeing excursions to Rome, and well as many of Italy's hidden treasures.

The guests stay in stunning village homes that are outfitted with everything, and the tours are 100% all-inclusive, from the moment you arrive in Rome until the moment you leave.

All of the tours also include several cooking classes in a beautiful 18th century country villa.

While the large tours are severely limited to accommodations and restaurants that can handle large groups, DiscoverSoriano's groups have the freedom to eat in wonderful little trattorias and cafes.... a HUGE difference. Since there are no 'kickbacks' involved or special large group pricing, plans can be changed on the fly for a really personal experience.

Here is where you can find more info:

You may want to try the Green Line Tours. It's one of the best, at least in Rome! http://www.greenlinetours.com/

Green Line Tours operates IN Rome. If you want a tour TO Rome, I suggest Perillo Tours (www.perillotours.com). I lived and worked in Rome for several years, and folks traveling with Perillo always seemed to be very happy with the services they received.
