Looking for price info on transfers from Rome Leonardo airport to Rome's center and from Rome center to port

Train will be the cheapest. I don't know about the previous poster's comment saying that "no one pays for public transportation in Italy". While I've ridden the Rome buses and never actually paid for them, I usually have my ticket checked on the trains.

From Roma Fiumicino airport, you can take the Leonardo Express directly to Roma Termini. It will cost â‚¬11 per person each way. The trains leave every half hour and the trip also takes about a half hour.

I'm not sure exactly where the Hotel Barberini is, but I'd guess it's close to the Barberini metro stop on the A line. You can transfer to the Roma Metro at Termini. The tickets are â‚¬1 each. If you have lots of luggage, you may want to avoid the subway and take a cab instead from Termini - it shouldn't be too expensive as it won't be a very long trip.

As far as to the port, you can get direct train service from Roma Termini to Civitavecchia. It takes about 1 hour. Check www.trenitalia.com for schedules and prices. It should be less than â‚¬7 per person each way. From the train station in Civitavecchia, you can get a cab to the port - again not a very long trip.

The train will cost 9 euros. Make sure to buy a ticket and validate it, you will be heavily fined if you don't. It might seem like a lot of people are just hopping on for free, but these people have month or week long passes that don't need to be validated each time.

You can hire a private car for each of these trips. I use airportconnection.it. They will meet you outside of luggage claim and help with yur luggage. They will take you right to the hotel. If you take the train, it will take you to the termini station, from there, you must still get to your hotel, either by walking or taking a cab. A cab from the airport will cost about 30 euros but you must be very careful to take a licensed, honest cab. If you decide to go with a cab, only take one from the cab rank. They will be lined up and you must take the one at the front of the line. Make sure they turn on the meter as soon as they start to drive. If someone approaches you to offer you a cab, do not accept. They will charge you a lot more than you should pay.

The previous posters are dead on for advice. The only thing I can add....stay in the taxi line at the train station(if looking for road transportation into "downtown"). You will be approached by "private" taxi's. They are a rip-off. The taxi line may look long, but stay in it. I stayed at that same hotel. It is in a great location and is nice. Use local taxi's and ask for an estimate before riding.

If you take a taxi expect it to be about 30Euro. It's a lot more comfortable than the train. But.......................... if you take the train, it's free. Nobody pays for public transportation in Italy except for tourists and it's a lot quicker.
