Hi, I answer you just from Florence. I suggest you go eating to FIASCHETTERIA NUVOLI. It's an old typical VERY cheap restaurant in piazza dell'olio 15...it's small, there is only an old door which looks in the street , you must pay attention, in front of this strange restaurant there's a bar or pub with chairs and tables in the street . I hope you'll go to NUVOLI because this place looks like a cave, into the ground, very typical of the old Florence. There are no more place like this.
When I go there I always ask for PICI AL CINGHIALE. Try them...you'll remember for ever. ATTENTION: the place is NOT a romantic place. Also I suggest you to go there for lunch and only after 1pm30...only after that time you will eat in peace, 'cause there go lots of working people (you know, when the prices are cheap!)
Bye and have a Nice Trip. |

If the weather is good and you enjoy walking, I suggest that you walk to the Piazzale Michelangelo. It's a lovely walk, and from the Piazzale the view is fantastic (in clear weather, which you should have this time of year). |

Hello,
In Florence for good and not expensive italian food you should try Trattoria la Casalinga
http://www.trattorialacasalinga.it/
If you want a museum where you can escape crowd for few hours there is:
Museum of Palazzo Davanzati
Via di Porta Rossa 13
A museum of the traditional Florentine house of 14th century.
Opificio delle Pietre Dure
Via degli Alfani 78
The workshop of semi-precious stones. The collection contains tablets, cabinets, jewellery boxes etc. all made with semi-precious stones.
Enjoy your staying! |

You will have a fantastic time no matter what you do. It's such a GREAT city!! I had the best meal of my entire life in Florence (and i have had many good meals). The restaurant is called Giostra. Here's the link:
http://www.ristorantelagiostra.com/
It is AMAZING. My husband and I went and had the meal of our lives for $100 USD. There are lots of good places that aren't expensive. Go where the locals are, stay away from the restaurants tourists go to. |

Visit tourist information. Use public transportation. Check out all menus, always displayed outside. Italy is gorgeous and you can do it on a budget. Enjoy! |

Piazzale Michelangelo. The best place to sit in the whole of Florence is on the terrace of the Playbar or on the steps of San Miniato. My OH & I were there for capod'anno.
There are lots of nice restaurants & none too expensive. |
