Milan - Roma train vs airplane?

In my next travel I'm going from Milan to Rome and I haven't decided between train (4:30 hours trip) or airplane ( 1 hour and 80 euros cheaper)
Any recommendation? I think about train because maybe the view its pretty or interesting about watching other small towns in-between
Additional Details
I love to flight and know airports around the world

I agree with the other two answers, except I'd generally allow more than an hour before the flight to check in and get through security - the planes typically start boarding 30 minutes before the scheduled flight times and lines can be long and slow. If you're flying out of Malpensa or Orio al Serio, the travel time to the airport is roughly an hour on the bus. Linate is 20 to 30 minutes depending on where you're starting from. If you arrive at Fiumicino, it's a half hour on the train (11 euro) to get to the Roma Termini station where the train from Milan will arrive without all the fuss. Adding in time to pick up bags at the airport, the time difference really isn't all that much.

The ride through Toscana is nice. There's not a lot to see between Bologna and Florence because there are a lot of tunnels. The train is much more relaxing. You could also take the night train from Milan to Rome - you won't see the countryside, but you can sleep through the night in a berth and arrive early in the morning. You use the time you'd normally spend sleeping for travel and don't have to have a hotel for that night. The cost for a berth is 58.50 euro (46.80 if the discounted Amica fare is available when you buy the ticket)

I don't see how the flight can be 80 euro cheaper than the train given that even a 1st class ticket on the Alta Velocità (high speed) trains are only 80.80 euro.

hi i am italian and i live now in california.. for me it would be better to go with train (euro-star is the name of the train that you need to take. It is fast, and in 4 hours you are in milan). The view is amazing, especially when you will be in tuscany. The cities where your train stops are florence and bologna, just two because your train (euro-star) is the fastest train and it doesn't stop in other cities. Be careful don't take other trains because then the time on the train is very long, and the trains aren't very clean. ok have a good time in italy and say ciao to Italia for me. Ciao

To me the best thing is catching the train that brings you from downtown milan to downtown rome. By plane you'll spend too much time in check in and transfers, the total time would be the same.
Moreover by train you can see the landscape.

Consider this:

With the plane you'll need to find your way out to the airport and be there 1 hour before the flight, line up and check baggage, try to find gate lounce. At the other end get off the plane, long walk to carousell, fight crowds to pick up luggage, find a way to get into Rome. This all take a considerable amount of time, plus additional cost of metro, bus, or taxi.

The train takes you from city centre to city centre and you only need to be there 10mins or so before departure. On the train, enjoy the beautiful scenery (try to book a window seat), go to the Buffet for coffee and a snack, walk around if you feel like it or just relax in a seat with plenty of leg-room. Then just walk straight out of the station into Rome.
