Milan is, by Italian standards, not that interesting. It only has two or three must see attractions. Rome, on the other hand, is tied with Paris for the title of most jam-packed full of stuff to see and do.

The 'must sees' in Milan are: Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper; The Pinacoteca di Brera; and the Cathedral.

Rome has so many things to see. The absolute must-sees are: The Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Vatican Museums (where the Sistine Chapel is), Saint Peter's Basilica, the Borghese Gallery. also: the Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain.

There are lots of other worthy museums, sights and sites in Rome, but I think I listed the most famous/iconic.

Also, if you want to stop somewhere that isn't Milan or Rome, in Florence there are at least two world-class/must see museums: The Gallery of the Academy (where the David is) and the Uffizi.

Milan is so cool: the city of shops and fashion. Look up for the top things to do in this page http://www.scoobit.com/milan-hotels.php I used this website to book my Milan hotel. Also, look here for art and design, very good website http://www.timeout.com/milan/search/?tag_id=4221
And now Rome. First of all, head to the Trevi Fountain. The legend is that if you throw a coin into the fountain you will one day return to Rome. It worked for me. Just give it a try. Piazza Navona has an amazing fountain, and there's nowhere better to sit al fresco with a pizza or a coffee. The Vatican, of course. The view from St. Peter's Basilica is worth the climb. The museums aren't amazing but the Sistine Chapel is. My favourite thing to do in Rome is simply to wander around discovering tucked away piazzas. It's a city to explore either on foot, or on scooter. Galleria Borghese and the Borghese gardens. To book a nice and clean Rome hotel I can suggest this website http://www.scoobit.com and this page dedicated to Rome hotels in particular http://www.scoobit.com/accommodations-rome-hotels.php I stayed at the third hotel on the left. It was a clean, well located and nicely staffed hotel. Not over-priced. It's a safe site. I book hotels through Scoobit.com frequently. You can book on line and there are no booking fees.
