Milan is a beautiful city very chic and expensive but also very busy during summer months much traffic and unbearable heat. Go to Bologna I would say.

lara

I also prefer Bologna. Great food. not as expensive a city to stay in.

Lola
You'll find much more entertainment in Milano...but if you prefer a quieter life style, choose Bologna.

Sicuramente capisci l'italiano:

for job it's sooo much better Milan..It's like all biggest city in Europe..Bologna is a small city..

If it were me I would choose Bologna. Not just because that's where my parents are from, although I am a little biased. I just got back from 8 days there in November. We took a little apartment in the center of town and we could have stayed there for months, it's wonderful. The University of Bologna gives the city a very dynamic atmosphere. It's a lively town with endless great places to eat and things to do. Additionally, Bologna is a great geographic spot to be based because it's easy access to so many cities by train. The food in Bologna is obscenely delicious and I found the people to be very friendly. Milan is a bit to big and industrial for my taste. Bologna is just right, hits the spot.

It depends on what you are looking for. Bologna is smaller and more relaxed but still very lively. Milano is more business oriented and larger, but it is small compared to big cities in Europe and US.
Cultural offer is decent in both, maybe a little more underground in Bologna.
In Bologna it might be easier to make acquaintances while in Milan is great for job networking, if that is what you're into. On the other hand everyone I know living in Bologna says it's becoming more and more Milanese-like, and they don't say it as a compliment. I live in Milan and find bad air and impoliteness often hard to bear, but I'm still here.
Hope someone from Bologna will answer too.

i think bologna is better

BOLOGNA!!!!!! Do you speak Italian? I think yes if you go to live here! I'm sorry but I must write Italian because I don't speak English very well!!
