hi! I'm Italian...
1000 dollars are about 500 euros.
where will you go in italy? in what city?
I live in perugia and this city isn't very expensive. a piece of pizza (really tasting!) and a coke cost 2 euro. let me know about the city so I can give you more information!

i'm from italy (turin). 1000 dollars = 800 euros
a worker gains 1200 euros per month, and you are going to spend much more than a worker!!!
good luck...

How long are you going to be there? What are you responsible for? If you are going on one of those one-week tours, and you're responsible for snacks and souvenirs, and you aren't planning on picking up anything too extravagant, you should be okay.

If you are paying rent and food and all extras and staying for a full semester or something along those lines, you are sadly underestimating your needs.

And for all those people who are telling you that the Euro is $2, PICK UP A NEWSPAPER ONCE IN A WHILE!!! The Euro hasn't EVER been that high! (not yet!) 1.28 as I write this, but it changes during the day, and you'll never actually get that much...better to guess at about 1.35, and then figure in a couple of percent for the exchange fees.

1 Euro = 1.27 Us$

as of right now $1000 = 780.275 Euro

and 1000 Euros = $1281.59

Currency fluctuates daily so you need to keep checking. If you are bring an ATM card or a credit card call your bank and tell them. Italy apparently has a high scam rate and mony CC are blocked there without prior notification.

If you have an ATM card that will work there you may get better rates

hahaha you will run out of that in a hurry be prepared to spend more much more unless you plan to starve and not travel anywhere

Dani
For easy conversion, figure that 2 dollars = 1 euro. Its a rough estimate, but you arent going to be doing decimal multiplications to figure out how much a t-shirt costs.

So 1,000 dollars = 500 euros

In April, it may be different. The conversion is always changing depending on the economy.
