Must-see sights and places in Rome?

I have 6 days to spend in Rome. Which places and sights should I definitely see and visit?

Colosseum, Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, Villa Borghese, Pantheon, Vatican and its museums, Santa Maria Maggiore, the market in the Piazza Navona, take a train from Tiburtini to Tivoli (about half an hour) and visit the Villa d'Este, then take the local bus to Hadrian's Villa (Villa Adriano). The Tivoli - Villa Adriano jaunt could easily take the whole day.
And then there is always the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and all the churches, basilicas and cathedrals, piazzas, viali and courtyards which you just stand and gaze into or along, as you pass by.
Get yourself some good walking shoes, and enjoy.
